An exploration of experimental and multidisciplinary forms of cinema
MEXICO | 45 minutes | 2015
Luz y Fuerza is a Mexican-based art collective that combines experimental cinema, visual arts, scenography and industrial design. Since 2012, they have been experimenting with light, technology and space. They explore moving images and design audio-visual machines that challenge the formats of production and consumption of conventional cinema. Driven by a strong desire to counter widespread obsolescence and capitalist principles, the artists embrace an environmentally-friendly lifestyle and way of working, defending the organic character of technology and putting forward alternative artistic experiences. They propose a way to make cinema with devices designed and built by themselves, which they use to make expanded cinema installations, live cinema acts and handmade cinema workshops. During their FNC Lab performance, they will use a combination of analog technologies and collaborate with local musicians, creating an audiovisual act with open narratives that will penetrate the space and generate diverse emotions. Also, through a workshop given at Eastern Bloc, the collective will guide the participants in the construction of analog and handcrafted projection material. With the musicians: Nicolas Breton Gabrielle Pelletier, Gretchen Schwartz, Daniel Karrasch, Tom Lecercle, Ali el Farouk, Sarah Rossy, Emilie Samson et Sienna DahlenWith the support of:Secretaría de relaciones exteriores (SRE)Consulado general de Mexico en Montrealhttp://consulmex.sre.gob.mx/montreal/index.php/en/consulateAMEXCID
