UNITED STATES | 91 minutes | 1997
Robert Frank’s first feature film, co-written with Sam Shepard. Starring a very young Christopher Walken and the writers Peter Orlovsky, Gregory Corso and Allen Ginsberg. Me and My Brother tells the story of a catatonic man contemplating his surroundings. The film makes fine use of alternating colour and black & white footage, portraying the intersection of reality and the protagonist’s imaginary world. We will screen the version re-edited by Frank in 1997, in tribute to the late Ginsberg and Joseph Chaikin, founder of the legendary Off Broadway company The Open Theater.
