An exploration of experimental and multidisciplinary forms of cinema
QUéBEC/CANADA | 300 minutes | 0
With the works presented in Positions, David Ross uses the cinematic lens to explore how apparatuses of sight and sound can be manipulated to alter our perception of physical space. In each work, the location of the camera(s) situates the viewer in a privileged position, offering specific access to locations and activities that would otherwise remain concealed: well-appointed Enlightenment-era rooms oddly devoid of human activity, the cramped wings of a theatre releasing dancers onto an unseen stage or surveying students battling the heat during a field exam. David K. Ross produces photographs, films, videos and curatorial projects. His work is held by major institutions and figures in private collections across North America and Europe, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and the Canadian Centre for Architecture. As an extension of the works presented in his exhibition, David K. Ross has assembled the program Connexions, video and sound works by artists that connect to his practice in multiple direct or indirect ways.Jo-Anne Balcaen, Simon Belleau, Eric Gaucher, Alexandre Larose, Stéphanie Leest, Philippe Léonard, Douglas Moffat, Alyssa Moxley (avec Patrick Andrew Boivin and Stéphane Charpentier), Phil Peters and Marianne PloskaPresented by: DAZIBAO
